Derivation of material properties using small punch and shear punch test methods

The Small Punch (SP) and Shear (ShP) tests are well established mechanical test approaches that have found application in several industrial sectors for material ranking property estimation, particularly where more conventional inhibited. Despite the advantages two methodologies to offer, main drawback is complex understanding of data generated from experiments how it can be correlated recognised properties. Typically, most desired properties relate uniaxial yield stress, ultimate tensile strength ductility, but date, there no single robust overarching approach correlating such a wide array metallic materials exhibit varying levels ductility. This paper will first time directly compare obtained series tensile, SP ShP across materials, look establish correlate equivalent different types. investigated range commercially pure entities advanced alloy systems. results, empirical relationships numerical simulations inform which regimes, identify why relationship certain breaks down.
